HISTORY TIMELINE
1855 CRANE begins manufacturing valves.
1952 Nuclear valves are manufactured and supplied to the U.S. Navy.
1956 CRANE manufactures and supplies their first Gate Valve for commercial nuclear power plant (Shippingport).
1959 CRANE acquires Chapman Valve Co. for Tilting Disc Check Valve capabilities.
1971 CRANE becomes first U.S. manufacturer authorized to use the "N" symbol of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
1978 CRANE closes the Chicago valve manufacturing facility.
1985 CRANE acquires Aloyco (a leading stainless steel valve manufacturer) and signs license to manufacture Walworth nuclear replacement parts and valves.
1985 CRANE acquires Mark Controls service centers (Romeoville, Houston, Gonzales, San Leandro, Signal Hill, and Woodbury).
1988 Chapman facility (Indian Orchard plant) is closed and safety related products are transferred to CRANE's Romeoville plant.
1992 Flomatics Control Valve line is transferred from CRANE-Chempump.
1994 CRANE acquires the Mark Controls Valve companies adding Pacific valves, Flowseal, and Center Line products to its manufacturing capabilities.
1994 CRANE-Aloyco becomes "CRANE Valves Nuclear Operations" establishing a "customer" driven and "focused" organization.
1995 CRANE transfers commercial parts manufacturing from Ambridge, PA. Plant to CRANE Valves Nuclear Operations.
1996 CRANE Valves Nuclear Operations expands into a new modern valve manufacturing facility in Bolingbrook, IL.
1997 CRANE acquires ITI MOVATS from Westinghouse, expanding CRANE's capabilities for providing comprehensive nuclear valve products and services including valves, diagnostics and field services.
1998 CRANE Valves Nuclear Operations and CRANE MOVATS become CRANE Nuclear, Inc. establishing its headquarters in Kennesaw, GA.
1998 CRANE Nuclear, Inc. acquires Liberty Technologies, further expanding its MOV diagnostic product line, testing services, and engineering capabilities.
2000 CRANE acquires Groth Corporation's Valve Repair Division, expanding its capabilities in the Houston market, the largest valve service market in North America.
2001 CRANE acquires Ventech Controls, Inc. in Houston, TX, providing further capabilities in shop repair and the remanufacture of control valves and instruments.
2001 2001 CRANE acquires XOMOX valve business of Emerson, expanding into the global marketplace with high-end application driven valve brands.
2002 2002 CRANE acquires Corva Corporation, further expanding its valve product offerings and actuator capabilities.
